Manchester United Park Ji SungManchester United midfielder Park Ji Sung is set to be sidelined for at least 6 months with a long-term knee injury. The hard-working South Korean international had an operation performed by well-known knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman in the United States at the end of last season on the knee injury he picked up in a match against Blackburn Rovers on 31st March. He now faces a long battle to regain his fitness and will not be available until December or January at the earliest.

This is a further blow for Park who had shown signs of becoming a regular in the Manchester United first team with some dynamic performances in midfield during last season. His fantastic work rate combined with increased goal scoring made him a good option for Sir Alex Ferguson, but Park has been persistently dogged by injury over the past couple of seasons.

Park has still travelled with the United squad for their tour, which takes in Japan, Korea, Macau and China. A list of the upcoming friendly fixtures can be found here.
